The air circuit breaker is the largest-capacity and highest-breaking-capacity type of circuit breaker in low-voltage distribution systems, using air as the arc extinguishing medium. When the contacts separate and an arc is generated, the arc is elongated in the air and then cut, cooled, and rapidly extinguished by arc chutes. The ACB serves as the “main switch” at the low-voltage side of the transformer, forming the first line of defense for the entire low-voltage system. It features a frame structure consisting of independent components such as the contact and arc extinguishing system, operating mechanism, intelligent trip unit, and draw-out cradle.
