On the ecological and environmental protection map of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a major environmental infrastructure project with a total investment of over RMB 1.9 billion is operating efficiently. Recently, news came from Haixinsha Island, Machong Town, Dongguan City: the power distribution project for the physical-chemical wastewater system of Dongguan Haixinsha Wastewater Treatment Center, for which Zhongtongfu Energy Saving Technology Service Co., Ltd. supplied low-voltage power distribution equipment, has been fully commissioned. In this project, Zhongtongfu Energy Saving provided 21 MNS2.0 low-voltage switchgear units, delivering safe, stable, and intelligent power protection for this leading industrial hazardous waste disposal and wastewater treatment center in South China.
Dongguan Haixinsha Wastewater Treatment Center (also known as Haixinsha Resource Comprehensive Utilization Center) is located on Haixinsha Island, Machong Town, Dongguan City. It is a core project for promoting the construction of a “zero-waste city” and enhancing hazardous waste disposal capacity in Dongguan City and even Guangdong Province. The project has a total investment of RMB 1.905 billion and is designed to receive and dispose of 26 categories of industrial hazardous waste, with a total treatment scale of approximately 316,100 tons per year. Among them, the treatment capacity for surface treatment waste reaches 133,000 tons per year, and the temporary transfer capacity for hazardous waste is 300 tons per year. Additionally, the project includes a physical-chemical wastewater treatment system to deeply purify the wastewater generated during hazardous waste treatment.
As a high-risk hazardous waste disposal and wastewater treatment facility, the center imposes requirements on the reliability, safety, and disturbance resistance of its power supply and distribution system that far exceed those of ordinary industrial projects. Any unexpected power outage could lead to interruption of wastewater treatment, leakage of hazardous substances, or even environmental accidents. Therefore, during the selection of low-voltage power distribution equipment, the owner strictly evaluated suppliers’ technical solutions, product quality, and engineering experience. Leveraging its over a decade of deep accumulation in power distribution manufacturing and successful cases from multiple environmental benchmark projects, Zhongtongfu Energy Saving won the bid for the physical-chemical wastewater system power distribution project, supplying 21 MNS2.0 low-voltage switchgear units.
II. Core Product: Technical Advantages of MNS2.0 Low-Voltage Switchgear

The MNS2.0 low-voltage switchgear used in this project is one of the classic products resulting from the cooperation between Zhongtongfu Energy Saving and ABB. MNS2.0 is ABB’s second-generation low-voltage complete switchgear technology platform, incorporating advanced concepts such as modular design, high-density installation, and intelligent monitoring. It is widely used in industrial scenarios that demand extremely high power supply continuity.
In terms of structural design, the MNS2.0 cabinet adopts a C-profile assembled structure, fully metal-enclosed, with high strength and good heat dissipation. The functional units inside the cabinet are designed in draw-out or fixed-partition styles, achieving physical isolation between circuits. In the physical-chemical wastewater system of the hazardous waste treatment center, where corrosive gases and high humidity are present, the MNS2.0 cabinet’s standard anti-corrosion treatment and IP42 or higher protection rating effectively ensure long-term stable operation of electrical equipment.
In terms of electrical performance, the MNS2.0 cabinet’s main busbar is rated up to 6300A, with a short-time withstand current rating of up to 100kA, capable of withstanding the frequent start-stop impacts of high-power pumps, mixers, and other equipment in the wastewater treatment system. The cabinets come standard with ABB-branded circuit breakers and intelligent protection devices, featuring precise overload, short-circuit, and ground fault protection functions, effectively isolating faulty circuits and preventing accident escalation.
In terms of intelligent operation and maintenance, all 21 MNS2.0 cabinets supplied for this project are equipped with intelligent power monitoring terminals, capable of real-time collection of parameters such as voltage, current, power, and energy for each circuit, and uploading them to the central control room via industrial Ethernet. Operation personnel can remotely monitor power load changes in the physical-chemical wastewater system, promptly detect anomalies, and perform preventive maintenance. This intelligent solution provides data support for the refined operation and energy conservation of the Haixinsha Wastewater Treatment Center.
The Zhongtongfu Energy Saving project team conducted multiple rounds of technical coordination with the design institute, general contractor, and owner during the project’s early stage. Based on the process characteristics of the physical-chemical wastewater system, several adaptive optimizations were made to the MNS2.0 cabinets: First, all cabinet surfaces were treated with three-proof paint (moisture-proof, mold-proof, salt-fog-proof) to enhance corrosion resistance; second, heaters inside the cabinets automatically switch on/off based on humidity changes in the Dongguan area to prevent condensation that could reduce insulation; third, dual-power automatic transfer switches were configured for critical circuits to ensure uninterrupted power supply to primary loads.
In terms of delivery schedule, the 21 MNS2.0 cabinets were ready for shipment just 45 days after contract signing. All equipment underwent full-function testing before leaving the factory, with detailed type test reports and factory inspection records provided. After the equipment arrived on Haixinsha Island, Zhongtongfu Energy Saving dispatched experienced after-sales engineers to provide on-site installation guidance, ensuring that cabinet wiring and system commissioning were successful in a single pass.
Behind this environmental giant, the 21 MNS2.0 low-voltage switchgear from Zhongtongfu Energy Saving play a key role as “power guardians”. From sewage lift pumps to dosing and mixing devices, from sludge dewatering machines to exhaust gas treatment systems – every process link of the physical-chemical wastewater system relies on a stable and reliable power supply. With its excellent electrical performance and environmental adaptability, the MNS2.0 cabinet ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the entire hazardous waste disposal and wastewater treatment process.
